I wanted to share a sonnet I wrote recently after emerging from a short spell where I was wandering about in the shadows, feeling like the darkness would never lift. When you walk through this type of experience under melancholy’s spell, the best description I found to explain your eventual exit is one of awakening. When you are trapped in the nightmare, the world around you doesn’t look the same as it once did. It stops speaking to you, and stops radiating light. But, by the grace of God, when you awake, the mist fades and the blur of gloom is removed, allowing you once again to see Heaven’s Hue.
Heaven’s Hue
I awoke in a world so fair, Bathed in light, washed anew. A sense of beauty filled the air, Revealing shades of Heaven’s hue. My deep slumber, came and went, The ordinary, now poised to speak. Creation blooms with new intent; Mountains whisper, rivers weep. Stars burn bright in the evening sky, With ancient songs beneath their breath, Singing, “Even darkness brings forth light, Revealing life where once was death.” Shadow and flame both bright and true, Alive with shades of Heaven’s hue
Lukas- I’m echoing every sentiment here of the ways in which darkness brings forth light. Few words are truer than these. A beautiful read.
